The Walk Home
The walk home from Sunday church.
Walking the same path. Slightly different views each Sunday.
Observing, appreciating the wondrous creations of nature.
Looking beyond the iron bars.
Connecting insights from the Sunday sermon to nature all around.
Longing for the past. Holding on to the sweet carefree memories.
Pondering the uncertainty of the future.
Reflecting on Sunday services evoking memories of the past, the joy of present connections and prayerful trust in the future.
Stop. Pause. What about the present moment?
Breathe. Belly rising. Belly sinking.
Right here. Right now.
Savor the moment. Go gently.
Smell the sweet fragrances of nature. Breathe slowly and deeply.
Listen to the sweet songs of birds. Hum a tune.
Touch the feathery leaves. Feel their softness.
Stay in the present beauty of the moment. Feel each sensation.
I am here. It’s OK.
Loving where I am now.
The slow, steady, reflective, quiet walk home.

The poem and photo are meaningful to me because they exemplify that we need to “feel to heal”.
